Vera Wang for David's Bridal

Pleas excuse me--I'm still coming off my wedding high (hubby and I just got our full-length wedding dvd back and watched it twice last night!) David's Bridal has not been on the top of the list of wedding dress retailers lately. I know when I was shopping for a dress, that was the last place on my mind. However, next year, Vera Wang, the premier wedding dress designer, is partnering with David's Bridal to create a bridal dress line. The collection will be comprised of dresses ranging from $600-$1500. Although I am normally a little skeptical about collaborations between top designers and mainstream retailers (ie. Designer Collaborations for Target) I think this one will pan out great. I can't wait to see the collection, which will soon thereafter produce bridesmaid and children's wedding attire line.

I think it is a great idea for both parties--David's Bridal can possibly change the minds and hearts of brides to be, and Vera Wang can reach out to a new demographic who may not have been able to afford an original designer gown. It's brilliant.

Why Don't You Love Me by Beyonce

Here is Beyonce's new video, Why Don't You Love Me. It has a sexy vintage theme, of a helpless, hopeless housewife. I don't know how I feel about the video. It's oozing with desperation as she begs her man to love her. She claims to have everything he wants and needs, and doesn't understand why he doesn't love her. She gives him her everything, yet it still isn't good enough.

Lately, there has been so much talk about how women aren't good enough to love--that they have to do this thing or that thing to be loveable, and make a man want to marry her. I think it simply isn't true, and the percentage of women who give their everything to make a marriage or relationship work, should understand, you have to be yourself--do not waver. Show a man that you love him and want him in your life, but do not need him. A man cannot make you happy. You must first be happy with yourself, before anyone else can love you.

I'm Back!

Hey all! I know it has been FOREVER since I've posted, and I'm sorry. I got married almost one month ago, and life has been crazy! I had less than 6 months to plan the biggest day of my life. From my last post in November 2009 to now, so many things have changed. However, my love for fashion definitely has not changed!

Now that I am getting back into the groove of things, I will be posting regulary. I have decided to shift the style and focus of Purple Glamour. I don't want it to be just another fashion blog. Bear with me, as I share my current and future goals, and take this blog to the next level! I am in the process of creating a new design and lots of goodies for you to read and share if you'd like.

I have missed all of you, I hope you have missed me too!

I want to know what everyone has been up to, so please comment and share one goal you have for the upcoming summer season--whether it's to lose weight or switch up your wardrobe. I'll go first! My goal for this summer to start grad school. I have been out of college for almost 2 years now, and I have decided to get my Master's in marketing. I am doing marketing for my current job, but I want to take my skills and knowledge to the next level. I eventually want to start my own marketing firm, targeting local boutiques. One step at a time though.

Jean Paul Gaultier Next in Line for Target

WWD reports that French designer, Jean Paul Gaultier will produce the next capsule collection with Target's Designer Collaborations.

The collection will launch March 7 (probably in NY first) through April 11th.

Gaultier is known for his risque pieces and daring silhouettes. Jourdan Dunn was spotted on his spring '10 runway sporting her baby bump in a chic way.

The spring '10 collection was undeniably fab, by the way. The wide range of military chic mixed with urban denim fab, and an ethnic motif, embodied this season's collection with a neutral color palette of various textures.

I am totally looking forward to this capsule collection with Target. And you know there will be a preview of the pieces before they hit stores, so stay tuned. When they pop up, you will be the first to know!

The Olsens Launch The Row Eyewear

Say what you want about the Olsens, but they know fashion. They are launching their eyewear collection for The Row in the spring...

Widely known for their trendsetting eyewear, the Olsens have also paired up with Linda Farrow for the collection, with a price range of $325 to $390.

The collection will feature four styles: "a classic metal aviator, an oversize square frame, vintage-inspired brow-line rims and a pair of round shades taken from the Sixties."

“We’re testing the market first and obviously these are four very different silhouettes, so we’re seeing what people are responding to and we’ll open up a couple more silhouettes for fall,” Ashley Olsen said. “We tried to find certain pieces that look good on more than one face, to pay close attention to how they fit certain faces and make them wearable at the same time.”
