NY Times Reports "Fashion's Night Out"

According to Eric Wilson of the NY Times, Vogue, the CFDA, Mayor Bloomberg and NYC & Company have joined forces to announce Fashion's Night Out, a program to support retailers and help them stay afloat.

The event will begin on September 10th, to kick off Spring 2010 Fashion Week in NY., from 6pm to 11pm. During this time, designers will visit their flagship stores as well as department stores where some of their pieces are sold, including Saks Fifth Ave. and Macy's.

There will be late night shopping and receptions held at these stores to create a light, festive atmosphere. A similar program was held back in the late '90s when retail was hit by the failing economy.

I must say I like the idea. There is hope for good sales and networking. And maybe a sighting of your favorite designer!

Keep checking fashionsnightout.com for the list of participating retailers. And don't forget to let me know how it went!
